According to Vincke, that panic was insufficient since there are still many teams who play different genres of games. He cited that Assassins Creed is an example, but it was not widely thought that other studios were doomed because they don’t have the resources Ubisoft has. Swen Vincke recently shared his thoughts about Larian Studios. Many professional developers, including those from renowned studios like Obsidian and Blizzard, have pointed out that Larian has unique advantages such as vast experience and resources, that many companies lack. The discussion began after the head of Strange Scaffold told me that the Larian game shouldn’t be considered as the future standard of all RPGs.
